Gateway Network Requirements

Joost Pastoor -

This article is relevant for MSZG products (gateways) that are connected to the internet with ethernet or wifi.

If you are looking for the network requirements for our ZGD products please have a look at our article about ZGD Network Requirements

The gateway devices are designed in such a way that requirements are kept to a minimum.

Determining functionality

The 'rule-of-thumb' technique, to determine if the gateway will be able to communicate with the back-office, is to connect a regular computer to the same network the gateway will be using. If the computer is able to use the Internet without any limitations, configuration, or network login the gateway is able to operate properly.

Preferred mode of operation

When placing the gateway in a network it will not interfere with normal network operations. The gateway is designed to behave as a regular computer in the network. When placed in a restricted network the requirements described in this document must be met. The gateway can be placed in a DMZ or behind a firewall.
