Introduction
Sound Events are handled differently from other objects in our portal. A Sound Event needs a Sound Event group to properly work and such a group differs from a normal group. In this article we will explain how to create a Sound Event group or upgrade an existing group to a Sound Event group. How to setup the sound event group with a sound meter and gateway. How to couple the sound meter to the sound measurement point. And finally, how to create Sound Events for that display in the portal.
Creating a new Sound Event group
A Sound Event group is a collection of a few things. It can contain users, nodes, gateways, sound measurement points and Sound Events. To create one, go to the Groups page in the portal menu and click the new button.
Now, you can fill in all the details of the new Group. Fill in the name of the group first. Select Group is used for Sound Event (music events) to make it a Sound Event group. The most used settings are already enabled by default, but can be customized if desired.
Click the Create button to add the meters and gateways.
Upgrading a group for use with Sound Event
Upgrading an existing group is very similar. Go the settings of an existing group, select Group is used for Sound Event (music events) checkbox and click the Save button.
Adding (additional) measurement points, sensors and gateways
Once you have created a Sound Event group, it is time to add the soundmeter and gateway (sensors) to the group that will be used at the location. Use the measurement points tab to add sensors, gateways and additional measurement points.
For Sound Event groups a new measurement point will automatically be created if one does not yet exist. This does not happen for groups with existing measurement points. When selecting the option Sound measurement point you will receive the choice for adding additional new or existing measurement points.
Option: New
Select New to add new measurement points.
On the next page, fill in a name for the measurement point first. Also fill in a location and hit the enter button to find it on the map and position the marker accordingly. Click Save and next measurement point to add another. Click Save and next to continue with the next step of adding users.
Option: Existing
In the next screen, select the group to show its measurements points and use the Add button to add existing measurement points to the new group. Use Remove button to remove them.
Adding sensors and gateways
Adding sensors and gateways works in the same way. Click the Settings tab to go back, then click the Measurement points tab again and click the Add button.
This will bring up the Select measurement type menu again, through which you can select sensors and gateways.
Add sensors in the same way as with the measurement points.
Setting up a new event
To Setup a new event we first go to the "Sound Event List". Here we select the correct sound event group (you can only create an event in a Sound Event group). Here you see an event called "Template" if you have selected "Autogenerate Events" on the features list for that Sound Event group, this event will be used as example.
If you wish to create a new event simply press the button "NEW EVENT". And fill in all the information about the event, you can also set notifications if you wish to be alerted when the sound levels go above the limit. You can also create events for the future here.
Press save and your event is ready to roll!
