Configuring Noise Event Detection
To configure Noise Event Detection, go to the edit page of the sound measurement point for which you want to use this feature.
If your meter supports the detection of Noise Events, the Noise Event Detection tab should be available. Click on it and the following should become visible:
On the page itself, it is explained how the method for detecting Noise Events works. You can tweak the following parameters that will determine which peaks will be counted as a Noise Event.
- Minimum and maximum duration of the Noise Event in seconds.
- The threshold in decibels for a peak to be counted as a noise event.
- The upper and lower limits in decibels for a peak to be counted as a noise event.
- The txxDelta, which is the difference in decibels between the minimum and maximum dB levels over the peak duration.
A meter might support both LAeq-based events and LAS-based events or only LAeq-based events.
Viewing Noise Events in the Graph
If a measurement point has a meter coupled that supports the detection of Noise Events, these can be viewed in graphics by clicking the Noise Events tab in Graphics.
Hover over any Noise Event in the graph to view its details. Noise events may be labeled based on recognized sounds or unlabeled if the sound is not recognized or if only peaks are recorded.
